Family law and International Family law
We are dedicated to supporting and advising our clients in some of the most challenging and difficult times of their lives. We will listen to you, strive to understand your objectives and work together to attain the result that you want. Our experience and expertise in handling complex family law matters, such as international and interstate custody cases and multi-jurisdictional divorce cases will allow us to represent you well in the courtroom. At the same time, we recognize that litigating a case in court isn’t necessarily the best way to resolve a case. Oftentimes, negotiating a fair settlement or seeing a case through effective mediation results in a better outcome, at much less cost. We will counsel and advise you about the options available to you and together formulate a strategy that best serves your interests. We will counsel you, advocate for you, and team with you.
Our particular expertise is in international and multi-jurisdictional cases. However, we apply the same dedication and care to all of our cases, including simple uncontested divorces.

Our civil litigation practice started and grew from our relationships with our family law clients. We are proud of the fact that once we form a relationship with clients, they tend to consult us for all of their legal needs. We would usually help these former clients find the right lawyer to represent them, but for various reasons ended up handling some of the cases ourselves. The advocacy, thorough legal analysis, knowledge of procedural law and negotiating skills that we have successfully applied to family law cases have proved to be just as effective in litigating civil matters. We now count civil litigation, ranging from business disputes and breaches of contract to personal injury cases as one of our practice areas. If you believe you have a civil matter that should be adjudicated in court or have sustained an injury from the negligence of others, please consult us.
As our civil litigation evolved from our family law practice, our immigration practive evolved mostly from our estate planning practice to address immigration needs in connection with international estate planning. We have also handled family law cases that involve immigration issues, such as obtaining premanent residency under the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA). With the formation of our new partnership, Mike Meier brings over 20 years of expertise and experience in the area of immigration law.
